25 March is a commemoration day of victims of Communist terror. In 1949 thousands of people were deported to Siberia, today people march from the museum of Occupation to the Monument of Freedom.

Funeral of Imants Ziedonis
The funeral of famous Latvian poet Imants Ziedonis attracted thousands of people on 6 March 2013. However photography and film inside the Dome church where the coffin was on display was forbidden.
