Priekule

A few photos from Priekule in West Latvia. In Soviet times due to rail network and Soviet army base the town was dynamic but now there's nothing much to do there. The second and third photo is of a local hospital, the last one - cloth shop.

Hull nr. 25

Stradini hospital in Riga is spread over several buildings within a quite large territory. The age and condition varies from hull to hull. For instance, the oculist department in the hull nr 25 looks just like in 1970s.

Stradini hospital

Pauls Stradins Clinical University hospital is the biggest hospital in Latvia, and one of the oldest as well. It is a complex of many old and new buildings located in Āgenskalns district of Riga. There's a plan to destroy many of the old houses and make major renovation works.

Gailezers Hospital

Gaiļezers hospital (aka Hospital No. 7) was build in 1979 and at that time it was the most modern hospital in Latvia. Located in Mežciems suburb in Eastern side of Riga, Gaiļezers is probably one of a few major public institutions that has survived all this time without significant renovation works. Besides, it still hosts an underground shelter that could have been used as a hideaway from a possible nuclear bomb attack during the Cold War times.
